Chiang Mai , Wat Phra Singh

Wat Phra Singh is one of the biggest temples in Chiang Mai. With bright colors and golden statues, it is a peaceful place and one of the main attractions in the city.

We were lucky, the temple wasn't very crowded, and we could take our time to enjoy our visit and take a lot of pictures.

The sun reflected on the golden central stupa, and the rich decorations inside the temple were amazing. However, the best part of the visit was the gardens. You can read various proverbs and life lessons posted on the trees while enjoying the calm and fresh alleys of the temple.

Chiang Mai Old Town

We chose Chiang Mai for our next destination mostly because of elephants and nature. We wanted to taste a bit of the Thai jungle before going to the sunny and sandy beaches of the south.

Due to the lack of time, we mostly stayed within the Old Town, visiting the main attractions of Chiang Mai, but I hope we will have the chance to discover the less touristic part of the city.

#Funfact During the rainy season it rains every day at 3 PM 🀣 We still don't understand how it's possible, but it was really fun.

Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh

You may think that, after Angkor temples, we will be doing something different in Chiang Mai.

However, Sylvain needed a bit of rest, and I had the opportunity to taste solo traveling during my first day.

I have never traveled on my own. And I didn't really have a plan, so I took my Lonely Planet guide, and I just started walking through the Old Town.

I visited a lot of Buddhist temples that day. And I also had one of the most interesting experiences of the whole trip. While taking some pictures, two young monks came to me and asked me if I had some time for a quick chat.

They improve their English by talking with foreigners, and that's just great! I spent a great moment with the two novices, speaking about our countries and ways of living. They were so friendly and kind! πŸ€—

Sunset in Angkor, Cambodia

I know a lot of visitors choose to wake up early to see the sun rising over Angkor Wat.

I am sure it is an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience, but we are not that kind of morning people. That being said, we also missed the sunset over Angkor Wat πŸ˜….

Hopefully, the sun rises and goes down every day, even if you are not in Angkor Wat, and it creates beautiful contrasts over the ancient temples.

We love the vibe of this place and the mix between ruins and nature. There is always something to see if you feel curious and adventurous. πŸ€“

Siem Reap, East Mebon Cambodia

thesladventures's profile picture thesladventures Siem Reap πŸ‡°πŸ‡ | East Mebon πŸ“Œ This Hindu temple was once located on an islet in the center of the Eastern Baray, and you could only access the temple by boat. Now it is more like a dry place.

It is smaller and less crowded than other temples, which creates a peaceful atmosphere. You can appreciate all the details, especially the lion and elephant guardians, all around the main tower.

#Funfact after a long day walking and visiting temples, sitting on those stairs at the highest part of the East Mebon to see the sunset was just priceless.
